Fall Is On The Way

Well here we go another summer coming to an end. Time to start packing away the tank tops and short shorts. save that cute little bikini for summer 2017 because fall wants to make an appearance.

Now being a crocheter this is my time of year. Time to start making fresh new ponchos and shrugs for the fall chill. Time for some stylish new hats and scares that will make peoples heads turn. This is the time of year that my crochet hooks really start to smoke LOL!

Here are a few pieces that I've made for this coming fall season I hope you all enjoy them .

Here's one of the first pieces I created and put in my Etsy shop for the up coming fall season. This piece is so easy and versatile you will fall in love with it just as much as I did.

This fabulously stylish mesh wrap is this perfect piece to take with you when you do not want to carry around a big old bulky jacket. This wonderful piece is the perfect wrap, the perfect scarf or the perfect sweater just use your imagination the possibilities are endless.

along with this gorgeous wrap I have created a lovely matching side brim hat to go along with it. Take it from me this piece will have everyone turning their heads over what you are wearing.

The next piece in my Etsy shop came from me wanting a great looking V-neck sweater . I wanted to find a fashionable V-Neck sweater that would look great on anyone but I couldn't find one that I liked. so I decided to create my own and here it is. I think it turned out amazing . Along with the sweater I created a beautiful slouchy crochet beanie that truly pulls this together.

You can take this beautiful sweater set and pair it with a pair of your favorite jeans or dress the set up with a pair of slacks for a night out own the town.

One of the last pieces I've created for my Etsy shop is this gorgeous three piece crochet suit. Now I can't take credit for the design. I saw this suit else where and I just had to make my version of it. I'm sure you all can see why I had to make my own version. This suit is simply perfect. It can be made for a size X-small all the way up to a XXX-large and that person will look fabulous in it. 

The poncho is roomy and free flowing comfortable to wear at all times. the beautiful pencil skirt is made to compliment any figure big or small. The adorable beanie pulls the whole outfit together. It is made one size fits all. This suit is a must have in any ones closet.

What We Are Doing In 2016

Hi everyone out there, I know we haven't posted in quite some time but here we are ready to share some exciting news about ALMB&J HANDMADE for 2016.

Let me get to one of our biggest announcements, this is really something big for us and I really want to share it with you guys.

Let me start at the beginning of how this happened and why we are so excited about it. About 3 months ago I was sitting in my kitchen having a conversation with my mother. We were talking about this amazing birthday party we went to a few days before, it was a black and gold party, very elegant affair, we hand a wonderful time. Then she started gushing about the fact that I decide to make my own dress , "YES I CROCHETED MY OWN DRESS" and that I kept a secret from her until she came up here.  I didn't like what was in the stores and I wanted something that would be comfortable for me but also keep me still looking fabulous so I said why not and my crochet gown was born.  My mom thought that was one of the most amazing things she has ever seen LOL GOT TO LOVE HER!!!

Well as we continued talking she asked me about what I want to do in 2016. What goal are you looking to accomplish for the new year.I told her I would like to showcase my work more, do it on a different level, have people really take a look at what I do.  Crochet is my passion, I love it and I love the exposure I get from Etsy, Facebook and the other social media platforms,It's great but it is limited and with limited funds you know. I also have three kids I have to help take care of and that can take a lot of time and money and certain other things have to be placed on the back burner.

Listening to what I had to said my wonderful Mom said this. "What if I could help you accomplish this? What if I could help you to get more people to see your amazing work? What if I can get someone that can help you showcase your work?"  I was like, Yes that would be wonderful (DO YOU GUYS THINK I WOULD SAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT) so she contacted the Birthday Girl from the party we went to, her friend, her very best friend. She put me on the phone with her. We had a nice long conversation about what I want to accomplish and some of my goals for the new year and beyond . Well to make this long story some what short she liked what I had to say and she is now helping us, my daughter, my husband and I put on this amazing Fashion Show / Lip Sync Show .

Yes this is are big announcement we are having a Mother Day extravaganza. On May 7th of this year I am putting on a fashion show featuring some of my crochet fashions. I am so proud, and so excited, and feel so blessed. I really can't put how I feel in words.

This show will be the first time that a collection of my items will be worn and walking down a runway for people to see how the garment looks up close and personal on a model. This wonderful show will also be featuring my daughters lovely jewelry I am still so proud of my baby girl love her to death. This event is truly a family affair with my husband working the other half of the show the Lip Sync half of the show. His passion is music just like mine is crochet and I know he's got this. Along with my husband and daughter my son and my baby daughter will be performing in the show along with my mother , my brother, my niece and my cousin this is going to be a truly amazing affair.

So if you live in or visiting the Irvington, NJ area on May 7th of this year please come on down and support your girl and my family we would love to see you there.

Also down the pike for ALMB&JHANDMADE we will be doing a lot more vending events this year hoping to branch out in other cities so stay tuned for that.

ELEGANT GOLD & BLACK BEANIE WITH SIDE FLOWER AND MATCHING INFINITY SCARF

This is my Gold and Black Elegant Beanie with side flower and matching infinity scarf.
I made this piece because I bought this Patons Metallic yarn hoping to make a wrap for one of my customers but I didn't like the way the yarn looked so we went another way. I still hand this metallic yarn and I am not one to waste things so I add the metallic yarn to some red heart super savor yarn in black and here it is . This very lovely very elegant set. I just love how it turn out.


WINTER WHITE , BROWN AND TAN HEAD WRAP 

So recently I sold one of my head wraps a lovely forest green, the customer loved it but I'm down one head wrap in my Etsy shop so I was sitting around trying to figure out what I could do to replace it I saw these lovely earthy colors sitting next to me and so I came up with this beautiful Winter White, Brown and Tan head wrap. This piece is so great for making your winter outfit pop. This wrap is a great alternative to the basic beanie . So forget about having a bad hair day when you put on this gorgeous head wrap.


BROWN & TAN FRINGE HANDBAG 

As you all know fringe is in so I had to hop on the fringe band wagon with this gorgeous brown and tan fringe boho bag. The perfect piece for those of us that want to be part of a trend but don't want to cover yourself up head to toe in it. This bag is a great compliment with any outfit you may want to pair it with . With this little  trendy number you will have people asking you where did you get that amazing bag.


GRAY AND YELLOW SOLID GRANNY SQUARE BAG 

This very fashionable and stylish crochet granny square bag goes perfect with just about any outfit. I made this granny square bag very durable but it is certainly not ruff to the touch. This simple but elegant design of solid granny squares is a beautiful piece for any woman weather it's the woman on the go or the fashionista looking for the perfect bag for a night out on the town.

What's New On My Hook

Hey everyone, How are you all doing. I hope everyone is doing well. I know a lot of you from the northeast has the "Winter Blues", including my self sometimes, but keep your heads up it's almost over. It may not look like it right now but it is. You'll see you'll be packing those winter coats and boots away and putting on those cute light weight sweaters  and a great colorful pair of Keds for the spring picnics and the bike rides in the park with your families. A warm up is coming and we will all lose those "Winter Blues" in know time.

Now with the weather being the way that it is I've been staying in my house a lot more and working on quite a few new projects. I would love to show you all some of the items that I've been working on these past few weeks. 

My Four Wedge Rose Earrings. 

These earrings are my first venture into crochet thread. I wanted to see if I could work with something thinner than the yarn I usually work with and here they are my wedge earrings. I made them really long because I love the super dangling look. 

I think they turned out pretty cute for my first try. I will be making more thread earring in the future  I really do like them.

Tote Bag / Clutch Bag

  

If you all know me you know that I just love a really good bag and more than loving a really good bag I love things you can use in other ways and this tote I created is perfect for that. Done in Gray and Icelandic this tote is great for everyday use. Just through your stuff in and go. Now if  you need something smaller for a night out on the town with your friends you can take this same tote bag fold it over and turn it into this super cute clutch purse. I just love it.

Slouchy Granny Square Beanie 

I had so much of the Gray and Icelandic left  I decided to make a few more items. This one is my slouchy granny square beanie. This is a really roomy piece. Great for people with Dreads or long hair. This style is great for a man or a woman. I really want to make a few more of these in other color combinations before the winter ends. 

My Versatile Cowl

Another piece I decided to make out of these really cute colors is this gorgeous little item. Like I said earlier I love things that can be used in many different ways. and this cowl is really great for that. It can be worn as a poncho like in pic 1 or you can wear it like a cowl as shown by my beautiful but silly daughter Jasmine in pic 2 LOL or you can wear it as a super cute and heavy infinity scarf. What ever way you decide to wear it you will look great with it on

.

The very last thing I want to show you all is the next project i'm working on. I really love the colors and how it's coming out. When I'm done you all will be the first people I show it to.

BLIZZARD !!!!!!!!!

Well I just wanted to stop by and let you all know that we are all OK . My family and I are all safe and sound in the house looking at the snow Falling down. The Blizzard that was wasn't really in my area, If you all can understand that. 

We were spared the worst of it. We got a nice amount of  snow but not as much as a lot of other places in the area. Right now we're just looking at the aftermath of what happened. Like I said earlier We were spared the worst. 

 

The plan for today is to spend some time with my family since the kids are out of school today and the hubby is off from work. Maybe go outside for a bit (YES JUST A BIT!) have a little look at the snow. throw some snowballs with the kids You know good winter fun LOL.  Then go inside make a nice warm meal and watch a good movie, Just have a good time as a family today . It,s Something we don't do often because of our busy schedules with work and school so this is a perfect way to get some time with the loves of my life. 

Now you all know who I am, I have to put in a bit of time working on my crochet. Even if it's just a couple of hours  I will crochet something today.  

I pulled out this skein of yarn  I think it's called  Wild Flower I't;s Red Heart Super Saver so I think that's my color for today.  This is what  I plain to do. I'm gonna carve out at least a couple hours, sit down on my bed tonight and make something really cute. Not sure what yet but  I do know it will be really cute  LOL . 

Well that's about it for now. Yeah I know it's a bit short but,  I just wanted to let everyone know that things are good here in this part of town. We are all OK.  There is one thing you all could do for me if you guys don't mind.  Could you  please do me this favor. If you are in an area that did get hit pretty bad please, check in on those that can't take care of themselves . The elderly, the sick. Just reach out and make sure that everything with them is OK . Make sure they have something to eat and that they have heat because it is really cold out there. So just reach out and lend a hand. Thanks again everyone and I'll talk to you  all later. 

A Pop of Color

I know that for a lot of people out there , "Myself included " the winter chill has gotten us  all in a funk. You just want to hop on a plane and go some where tropical. Where there's a lot of sun, sand and sit at  a place where they server cute drinks with tiny little umbrella's in them and wait out the winter frost. But for most of us that is just not possible because of our everyday lives. So here we stay to fight out the cold weather. Well let me  be here to help you out just a little bit. Let  me help to make  this winter a little warmer, at least in spirit. 

My little warm secret is this. COLOR, COLOR, COLOR Yes that's the secret, that's the magic word "COLOR" . Sometimes just by adding a simple pop of color to your wardrobe it can make you feel better and yes if you feel better the cold will not bother you as much and if it's not bothering you may feel a little warmer when you go out to do what you have to do each day.With a little pop of color added to your winter wardrobe you will not only feel good but you will also look good.  So here's a few of some of my favorite colorful piece that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :-) .


1. Cornmeal and Fiesta Side Brim Hat and Scarf Set 








This fantastic crochet mesh hat and scarf set can be worn from the fall all the way to the winter months. This set goes great with any outfit and the stylish side brim is a fashionable twist on the regular front brim. To make this hat truly stand out the matching scarf make a truly dramatic statement  that lets everyone know how you chose to fight off the winter blues.

The hat is another side brim hat that sets you a part from everyone else and I know how we all like to be set a part just a bit from everyone else . The cute little shrug can be placed under any jacket or coat to give you that add little bit of warmth in the cold weather. and when the weather becomes warmer get rid of the big coat and show that shrug off. The wrist warmer can be warn alone so you won't fumble trying to make a phone call or text or you can put a warm pair of gloves under them so they can give you add protection from old man winter.

This color scheme of raspberry, pinks, white and green  reminds me of the some of the beautiful spring flowers, Appleblossoms , Daisies , Roses , that I love to purchase at my local floral shop. I love these gorgeous colors of spring it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. 

3. Granny Bottom Turquoise Bag with Matching Hand Clutch 







This extra large "Granny Square Bottom Bag" Done in this gorgeous color turquoise and beautiful black trim is great for every day use or it can be used as a great little weekend tote for when you don't want a heavy piece of luggage.  The matching clutch can be used with the granny bottom bag or it can be used separate if you just need a little something to carry your ID's and credit cards. 

Sometimes all you need to get you out of your winter dull drums is to find the right bag . That little piece of color to brighten your day. With this great bag you can brighten your day and the people around you as well.  

This color scheme of Turquoise reminds me of the beautiful oceans Me and my family love to go to the beach when the weather gets warm and look out from the pier at the beautiful waves and feel the breeze on our skin.  Oh such good times.
